This is Normal: An insight into my recent work

James Labuschagne is an Artist, Writer and Educator currently based in Cape Town, South Africa. Having trained rigorously as a portrait painter, his work is an inflection of traditional painting that aims to explore the scattered psyche of an inundated world. He merges fragments scavenged from screens and drawn directly from life, images corrupted by layers of noise and divorced from sense. Through meticulous technique and diligent adherence to process, he produces work that is rooted in modern experience while referencing a way of seeing lost to the past. Labuschagne has exhibited his work internationally and his work is included in private collections across the globe.
